Fire Watch –– THE WAY STAFFING SHOULD BE!

Penn Apartment Staffing is seeking fire watchers to monitor apartment communities overnight. This person would patrol common areas, complete walk-through reports, report to 9-1-1 if a fire breaks out, and direct residents when systems (elevators, gates, fire sprinklers) are down.

Temporary or temporary to hire positions will be pre-screened through our staffing firm to determine qualifications for a long-term, and/or permanent opportunities. Our employees will be hired on with our client after working an average of 3-4 weeks through us.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This person would conduct walk throughs and keep a detailed log of common areas (pool/ spa, staircases, gyms, club house, parking lots, mail area, breezeways, etc.) and report to 9-1-1 and the community supervisor if anything is out of the ordinary or irregular. This person is also responsible for ensuring windows, doors, and entrances to common areas are secured and would report any other significant incidents, injuries, power failures, security breaches, etc. to appropriate supervisors.

NOTE: You will not be required to put out a fire but simply to alert 9-1-1, residents, and supervisors

SCHEDULE:

  • 10+ hour shifts (day or night shifts, depending on availability)
  • Overtime may be required (must be approved by manager on-site)
  • Weekdays and/or weekend shifts available

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out Fire Watch procedures to protect occupants, and personnel from fire damage.
  • Monitor community by walking near office/ amenities/ property/ supplies.
  • Checks all windows, doors, and entrances to buildings to ensure they are closed and secured
  • Extinguish small fires
  • Direct residents when an elevator is down, gates are not working and/ or when Fire Systems shut down.
  • Be able to verbally warn others of fire or other danger. Alert workers if it’s necessary for them to evacuate the area. In emergencies, Fire watchers needs to sound alarms or activate similar systems to warn firefighters when an emergency breaks out.
  • Call police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
  • Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment.
  • Reports significant incidents, injuries, power failure, security breaches and the like to Property Manager, Supervisory and/ or Lead Maintenance
  • Constantly patrolling areas, maintaining vigilance of potential fires.
